Even after upgrading my storage space with a 1 TB SSD, I still check the space requirements on nearly everything. Like many of you, I have the room, but it’s nice to keep tabs on my favorite games to see which one balloons over time. With that in mind, how big is Escape From Tarkov?
How Many GB is Escape From Tarkov?
Following years of regular patches and content updates, Escape From Tarkov remains relatively lightweight on your SSD. It requires a whopping 80 GB, approximately, of space to install. When you compare EFT to other modern titles, such as Call of Duty, which requires hundreds of GBs of available space, it’s almost astounding how Battlestate Games managed to compress its files.
You’ll note I mentioned “SSD.” Installing the extraction shooter on an SSD, not an HDD, is highly recommended. If you want to load into a round quickly without fear of dying to someone who spawned faster than you, do yourself a favor and put it on your fastest available drive.

How to Install Escape From Tarkov
Once you create an account and purchase your chosen game edition, you’ll select “Profile” in the top right corner of the game’s official website. From there, you’ll receive a landing page with “Greetings” and a handful of actions on the right-hand side. In any case, you can’t miss the giant “Install” button in the center of the page. It’s just below the welcome message, which points you toward the forum and Support Center.
Click “Install” and allow the program to download. Then, extract and run the executable. It will install the Battlestate Launcher, which houses Escape From Tarkov and EFT: Arena. From the launcher itself, you can choose to install the game and keep it up-to-date automatically.
The Guide Hall should likely start counting the number of kits we lose and worry less about installation space in Escape From Tarkov. That’s a much larger number!
