How to Beat Slitherfangs in Horizon Forbidden West
To defeat Slitherfang in Horizon Forbidden West, you’re somewhat in luck because this first one is stuck beneath a ton of rubble after you drop the spaceship on him and his buddies, but it’s still a challenging boss fight. You’ll want to aim for its weak points underneath the head and along the neck, running downward. They glow slightly yellow when you scan the Slitherfang.
If you can land a handful of shots on these weak points, the Slitherfang will inevitably slump to the ground, allowing you to land a few more perfect shots. But then, something magical happens. A few canisters sprout forth from the sides of its neck. Shoot these! They deal a bunch of critical damage!
In time, the Slitherfang will free itself from the debris and roam the arena. It’s rather confined, and the beast is massive, so keep moving. Unfortunately, this tactic means it’s tough to land shots with your bow.
Instead, run toward the back of the arena from where you begin. Near a rock, by where the Slitherfang enters, is a unique weapon dropped from the beast. It spews plasma-like pulses that deal severe damage to the atrocity. With a few hits, it should go down with no problem!
Rewards for Beating the Slitherfang
You’ll receive a handful of rewards for beating the Slitherfang in Horizon Forbidden West, namely:
- Blastpaste
- Sturdy Hardplate
- Metalbite
- Braided Wire
- Metal Shards
- Slitherfang Primary Nerve
That last item, the Slitherfang Primary Nerve, proves most exceptional. It’s a key component in upgrading your weapons and armor, though you can sell it for Metal Shards if you’d prefer!
