The ability to change factions in Gray Zone Warfare is undoubtedly one of the most requested features from the community—alongside performance improvements. But most people don’t realize that you can’t swap factions easily in-game or play with other faction members, which makes grouping up with friends a headache. This is how to change factions in Gray Zone Warfare!
How to Change Your Faction in Gray Zone Warfare
To change your faction in Gray Zone Warfare, boot up the game and, from the main menu, turn your attention to the bottom right corner of the screen. You’ll note an option to wipe your character, allowing you to select any of the three available factions.
It’s useful when you have a buddy who opted for Crimson Shield when you went Mithras, for instance. Once you’re in the same faction, you can play together!
However, it’s important to note that this option doesn’t allow you to swap factions in the game. It completely resets your character. All of your equipment, money, and quest progress, along with your character level, will reset to zero. It’s a total wipe. Keep that in mind before hitting “Yes, I’m sure.”

Can You Play With Other Factions in Gray Zone Warfare?
Currently, you cannot play with members of other factions in Gray Zone Warfare. Once you choose your faction upon creating a character, you’re locked in with that group. If your buddy picks the same faction, then fantastic, you can play together. But if not, you’ll have to play separately or wipe your character to select the same faction.
That said, just because you’re on different factions doesn’t mean you have to act hostile towards each other. If you somehow encounter the other in the field, there’s no need to shoot first and make amends in Discord later!
