Gray Zone Warfare Embraces PvE-First Tactical Shooter Lifestyle

Gray Zone Warfare is, hands down, one of my favorite tactical shooters. I spent hundreds of hours exploring Lamang, completing every task, and building out guides to help the community join the fun. The best part? It’s only getting better. Developer Madfinger Games is prepping for Gray Zone Warfare update 0.4, but they’re doing it differently. They’re opting for a PvE-first approach to the game moving forward!

Now, Gray Zone Warfare is moving away from the extraction shooter label somewhat and embracing PvE-first and MMOFPS as its core. Madfinger said:

You’re not heading back to base nearly as often. Tasks can be turned in from the field. Your time is spent moving from COP to COP, POI to POI. The world encourages staying out longer, discovering more, encountering more PvP—and staying immersed.

You’re not jumping in and out of isolated raids. You’re living in this world. It’s a tactical MMOFPS. It’s persistent. It’s dangerous. It’s accessible—whether you’re new or a seasoned vet.

It might look like an extraction shooter on the surface, but it’s something different. Something of its own. That’s what makes it special.

As mentioned, the goal is for players to live, fight, and accomplish more than ever in this world. You’re not running back and forth to a helicopter landing zone; you’re pushing forward to your next objective, resupplying when you can, hunkering down during storms, reloading magazines in a dingy shack, and doing your utmost to survive. It’s immersive as its core.
