Despite a distinct lack of weaponry in Gray Zone Warfare, there’s a lot of potential in build diversity, all thanks to the M4 and Mk.18 platforms. They’re both highly customizable weapon systems. Here is how to build the M4 DMR in Gray Zone Warfare!
How to Build an M4 DMR in Gray Zone Warfare
You can purchase the entire list of parts necessary to build an M4 DMR in Gray Zone Warfare from Gunny, though you may need to level him to two or three to unlock all parts.
- M4 Upper
- M4 Lower
- M4 Buffer Tube
- CTR Stock
- AR-15 18″ Barrel
- X7M-15 Handguard
- KAC QD
- QDSS NT4 Suppressor
- Torque Pistol Grip
- AR-15 Supreme Charging Handle
- AR-15 JPGS-10D Gas Block
- SpecterDR 1-4x Assault Scope
Of course, you are welcome to swap out any parts. We all have our favorites. For instance, many likely wouldn’t choose the SpecterDR, but I prefer its reticule over the ACOG 4x.

Why Use the M4 DMR Build in Gray Zone Warfare

It’s important to remember that the DMR isn’t a full-blown sniper rifle. We have other builds and weapons in the game to take that slot in the squad. Instead, the DMR primarily excels at mid-range combat encounters while allowing for long-range engagements within reason.
I like to use the DMR to soften up an enemy position. I’ll post up somewhere with a slight height advantage, pop a few shots off, land as many headshots as possible, and then reposition. Before long, the enemy is flustered and in chaos, and you can move in with the rifle set to full auto and your scope set to 1x to mop up any remaining forces.
This particular DMR excels in more open environments, such as the golf course at Midnight Sapphire, the runway at Fort Farith, or the hilltop at Sawmill. However, I do not recommend bringing the M4 DMR to Tiger Bay, YBL-1, or Ban Pa. They’re too close quarters.
The Guide Hall finally finished Terminal Initiative in Gray Zone Warfare, and now we’re experimenting with new weapon builds. We’ll have more build guides in the near future!
