Puppet House is a horror game where you must solve various puzzles to progress the story. The game is similar to an escape room. Each room has its own puzzle you need to solve to unlock another room. The first obstacle you encounter is figuring out how to escape the cell.
Shortly after arriving at Peter Hill’s house, you are locked in the cell. The door is locked from the outside, and the switch to open it is just out of reach. Here’s what you have to do to progress.
The Glass Bottle
The first thing you need to do is go to the wall straight across from the bed. On the top of the shelf, there’s a glass bottle you can interact with.
After you find the glass bottle, hit E to interact with it. After doing this, the bottle will fall off the bookshelf and shatter on the floor next to you. You should have an option to interact with the shattered pieces and be able to pick up one of the pieces to use later.
While you’re in this corner, head over to the bed to grab the note underneath it if you haven’t already. These aren’t required to progress the game, but they’re the main source for learning about the Peter Hill lore.
The Metal Pipe
After adding the glass shard to your inventory, head over to the right back corner of the cell, across from the door. Once you’re over there, there should be a metal pipe attached to the pipe with some gauze. If you try interacting with this without the glass shard, Detective Rick will say that it’s too difficult to get off.
However, with the glass shard in your inventory, you’ll be able to interact with the gauze and cut the metal pipe from the white pipe. Once it falls to the floor, hit E to interact with it and put it in your inventory.
Flipping the Lever
The last thing you need to do is head back over to that door and use the pipe. After this, Rick will stick the metal pipe through the bars and flip the switch on the other side that unlocks the door.
The final thing you have to do to escape the cell is interact with the door to open it. This will give you access to the rest of the house for you to explore. This also gets you one step closer to discovering Peter Hill’s secrets.
