Following a short introduction to the game’s gorgeous world and then a combat tutorial, you’re thrust into The Ancient Haulways. Your first journey into the unknown of Fatekeeper, with your talkative rat partner, sees you wandering through caverns and leaping between rocky outcroppings. Eventually, you’ll step out into a larger chamber, with enemies down below throwing rocks at you, and ahead, a locked doorway that requires an Ornate Copper Key to unlock. Here’s how to find the Ornate Copper Key in Fatekeeper to unlock that door.

After you stumble upon the locked door, turn around and walk back to the entrance to the chamber. There, you’ll spot a wooden fence blocking passage down below. Climb over and drop down to the ground, where you’ll immediately enter combat with three foes.

After you defeat all three, go ahead and search the area. I didn’t find anything beyond some crafting material at a shrine in the corner, below the locked door, and then the entrance to the ruins. Smash through the wooden barricade and enter. Inside, you’ll find a bonfire. It’s how you save your game in Fatekeeper, so go ahead and light it up and manually save before continuing forward.
After you save, head up the staircase that wraps around the rear side of the room. Eventually, you’ll exit the ruins and come out in the previous chamber once more, but on the opposite side.

Here, you’ll spot a treasure chest sitting beside the ledge. Inside is the Ornate Copper Key.
But wait! Before you leap back down, take a look around. You’ll note a path from where you currently stand back to the original path, leading up to the locked door. With a little medieval parkour, you’ll be back to your starting location, ready to unlock that magical door finally.

Follow the path, careful not to fall, and use the Ornate Copper Key to unlock the door. It will lead you to the next area.
