Fallout 4: The Full Minutemen Quest List

The Commonwealth Minutemen are one of the first factions players will interact with in Fallout 4 by following along the main quest line and entering the Museum of Freedom. They’ve become a running joke within the community, specifically due to Preston Garvey and his near-constant requests for the player to assist settlements across the Commonwealth. But some of us like the Minutemen, and understanding their quest line can lead to unity for the wasteland. So, what are the Fallout 4 Minutemen quests?

Minutemen Quests in Fallout 4

There are nine main quests in the Minutemen line, with the entire series culminating in the Minutemen’s supremacy over the wasteland by eradicating the synth menace. The following quests are required to achieve the Minutemen ending in Fallout 4, and they are relatively easy to complete.

Main Quest Line

  • When Freedom Calls
    • A group of raiders is laying siege to the Museum of Freedom, and a trapped group of civilians, including the famous Preston Garvey, require assistance from the Sole Survivor.
  • Sanctuary
    • Once everyone is safely away from the raider menace, the player can agree to help the newly-settled people of Sanctuary Hills to establish the first Minutemen settlement.
  • The First Step
    • After everyone settles in at Sanctuary Hills, Preston Garvey will ask the player for help by traveling to a nearby settlement that’s requested help from the Minutemen. The player will likely visit Tenpines Bluff, then clear the raiders holed up in Corvega.
  • The Sight
    • Mama Murphy requests a few chems to influence her mystical sight, and only the Sole Survivor can procure the goods. After every dose, Mama Murphy experiences a vision of the player’s future.
  • Taking Point
    • Preston discovers a promising site for a new Minutemen settlement and asks us to clear the enemies and build a recruitment radio beacon to entice new settlers.
  • Taking Independence
    • With the Commonwealth Minutemen flourishing under the player’s guidance, it’s time to retake The Castle. Preston explains that the radio transmitter there would help connect the growing number of allied settlements, and the Sole Survivor is charged with planning the assault.
  • Old Guns
    • Once The Castle is back under the Minutemen’s management, Ronnie Shaw informs the player of a hidden armory tucked under the western bastion, and she has the only access.
  • Inside Job
    • With the signal interceptor constructed, Sturges asks the player to insert a network scanner holotape into an Institute computer to infiltrate it and download useful information.
  • Form Ranks
    • Preston Garvey, worried about the strength of the Institute, wants to bolster the troops by recruiting more settlements to the cause. The player is, of course, in charge of the legwork.
  • The Nuclear Option
    • With troops amassed and ready, Sturges has finally analyzed the data and found a way to access the Institute via an old tunnel network to the reactor. He provides the Sole Survivor with a holotape, allowing the player to reprogram the relay to bring in the Minutemen and end the Institute one and for all.
  • With Our Powers Combined
    • After dealing with the Institute, the player can eliminate the Brotherhood of Steel next, using artillery batteries to topple the Prydwyn in a surprise attack.

Radiant Quests

The following radiant quests will appear randomly during gameplay and typically involve defending a settlement from raiders or super mutants, rescuing a kidnapped settler, and dealing with the remnants of the Institute. Most radiant quests are completely option, and, for well-built settlements, they will defend themselves adequately.

  • The First Step
  • Raider Troubles at Oberland Station
  • Kidnapping
  • Greenskins
  • Clearing the Way
  • Taking Point: Starlight Drive-In
  • Ghoul Problem
  • Rogue Courser
  • Resettle Refugees
  • Defend a Settlement
  • Defend Artillery at a Settlement
  • Stop the Raiding
  • Kidnapped Trader
  • Water, Food, or Power
  • Suspected Synth

While many within the community can’t stand dealing with Preston, they’re somehow one of my favorite factions in the game for numerous reasons. Primarily, I love the idea of rebuilding the wasteland, which allows me to further interact with the game’s building system.
