When you hear the name Escape From Tarkov, you likely imagine the hardcore extraction shooter and not the team-based arena shooter that is, aptly named, Arena. But there’s still some life in the competitive shooter, and it’s likely to boom with the Steam release and, now, the announcement of a rather shiny Arena Battlepass for Season 1.

What is Escape From Tarkov Arena?
As you can see from the trailer above, Escape From Tarkov Arena is a little flashier and more adrenaline-fueled than the extraction portion of the game. It’s a high-stakes gladiator arena shooter in which two teams vie for control over various maps. The hardcore mechanics of the vanilla game remain in place, but with the tactical team-based gameplay of your favorite arena shooter.
The coolest feature of Arena, in my opinion, is that you’re still using your PMC from the extraction portion, and progress carries over. There’s also a custom preset system, allowing you to create and customize equipment, weapons, plate carrier contents, and appearances for each class, of which there are four:
- Assault
- Enforcer
- Scout
- Marksman
