If you want to complete every Pursuit, which is this game’s version of side quests, you must track down the Photographer. It’s also the only way to unlock the game’s phenomenal photo mode to snap a few screenshots of those underwater monstrosities. Here is where to find the Photographer in Dredge!
How to Find the Photographer in Dredge
To find the Photographer in Dredge, travel immediately south from Blackstone Isle to the small island just west of Gale Cliffs. It’s known as Expedition Site, and she’s the only character you will find there.
More specifically, look to the southeast corner of K4 on the map. The site features a dock and a small campsite. At the latter, you can speak with the Photographer to continue her quest, as she lost her Photography Equipment. But you may also rest at the dock, as this early in the game and you likely won’t have a powerful engine, so it can take all day to travel from The Marrows to Expedition Site.
With her quest in hand, it’s time to track down the Photography Equipment. It’s the only way to unlock the photo mode in Dredge!
Where to Find the Photography Equipment
To find the Photography Equipment, you must travel northwest from the Expedition Site to the unnamed islands in the southwest corner of I5. The location itself isn’t dangerous, though the trip across the sea may prove treacherous if you’re too slow to beat nightfall.
Once you arrive, search the area for the Photography Equipment. It’s a 4×4 item that will take up space in your cargo hold, so ensure you have enough room before venturing out for the item!
How to Use Photo Mode in Dredge
Once you return the Photography Equipment to the Photography at K4, she’ll provide you with an old camera to access the game’s Photo Mode.
To use Photo Mode in Dredge, hold down ‘Left Bumper’ on the controller, then navigate along the wheel until you find the Camera. It should be the first item to the left of the Light.
Once you select the Camera, it will become the ability in your bottom left. You then hit ‘X’ on the controller to activate the Photo Mode. When you do, it will bring up a new HUD, with every command available to take phenomenal screenshots of the game.
In Photo Mode, you have access to various controls to help you line up the perfect shot, including:
- Zoom
- Roll
- Up/Down
- Take Photo
- Toggle Overlay
If you’re quick on the draw, you can snap a photo of the various creatures that surface as you sail across the ocean!
The Guide Hall spent a lot of time taking photographs of the open ocean, a handful of dolphins, and something resembling a ghost ship sailing through the darkness in Dredge. Keep an eye out for additional guides…so long as that ghost ship doesn’t return!
