How to Find Cloth in Dredge
To acquire Cloth in Dredge, progress through the story until you unlock the ability to dredge Shapes in the Deep. These are usually found along the coastline as murky shapes in the water, vaguely resembling the item you’ll uncover—in this case, Bolts of Cloth.
Once you have the necessary equipment to dredge, unlocked by speaking with the Collector in The Marrows, hover your boat over the Shapes in the Deep, hit the interaction button (X on the controller), and begin the dredging minigame. Your goal is to leap between the two tiers as the wheel rotates, preventing your indicator from hitting any obstacles.

What You Need Cloth for in Dredge
The primary use of Cloth in Dredge is to upgrade your ship at the Dry Dock or Floating Dock (Travelling Merchant). You’ll need Cloth for:
- Hull Upgrades
- Rod Space
- Net Space
- Cargo Space
As you progress deeper into the upgrade tier, up to a +15 Hull, you’ll find that you require more and more Cloth to satiate the requirements. As such, I always recommend hitting every Shapes in the Deep location you find along your journey.
