I know I will likely take a bit of flak for this, but I enjoy using a controller while playing on PC. At least with some games. It just feels right. I can lean back in my chair, controller in hand, and enjoy a game, and that goes double for horror, where I’d rather not press my face to the screen. So, does The Outlast Trials have controller support?
Can You Play The Outlast Trials With a Controller?
Yes! The Outlast Trials does offer full controller support. Depending on your preference, you can use a PlayStation DualSense or Xbox Series X|S Controller or a third-party controller that you scooped up from Walmart on the cheap. With Steam’s controller integration and support, it’s easier than ever to boot up your favorite game and play.
I primarily play The Outlast Trials with a controller, albeit solo, as the one big gripe I have is you can’t use voice chat with a controller. You’ll have to lean forward (oh, the travesty!) and activate the push-to-talk key with one hand. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that removing your hand from the controls in a game like The Outlast Trials is a recipe for disaster!

Should You Play The Outlast Trials With a Controller?
I’m a firm believer in playing how you want. If you wish to play The Outlast Trials with a controller, then by all means. I think it runs fantastically. Every button is mapped from the get-go in an intuitive and easy-to-remember manner.
But if you prefer playing with mouse and keyboard, then hey, don’t let anyone stop you either!
I will say that some objectives, like knocking down the ducks with chunks of flesh to open Gooseberry’s Office, prove somewhat challenging with a controller. In such instances, I’d prefer to use a mouse and keyboard.
