I’m a huge fan of virtual photography. It’s one of the key reasons why I wanted this site to focus heavily on high-quality screenshots for our guides. But not every game offers an intuitive photo mode. For instance, does Dead Island 2 have a photo mode?
Can You Use Photo Mode in Dead Island 2?
Unfortunately, there is no photo mode in the game. It’s a huge missed opportunity, considering the overall quality of the world and enemy design in the game. Can you imagine some of the action shots? You stop mid-combat to access photo mode, snap a few screenshots of visceral melee combat, and then hop straight back into the fight. It’s quite foolish that Dambuster Studios didn’t include one!
Furthermore, screenshots taken using other means, like those through Steam, appear somewhat blurry and grainy. It’s likely a matter of tweaking some of the game’s settings, like Starfield’s annoying film grain effect. We’ll delve in further!

How to Take Screenshots in Dead Island 2
If you want to take high-quality screenshots in Dead Island 2, the only currently available means include:
- Steam’s screenshot function (F12)
- Windows screen grab tool (Print Screen)
- Third-party tools
- Greenshot
- Lightshot
- Gyazo
I’ve personally used each of these, and for the most part, I prefer Lightshot or Gyazo over the competition for third-party tools. Whenever possible, however, I prefer a game’s built-in photo mode or Steam’s screenshot tool.
