Disney Dreamlight Valley added a lot of new unlockable characters in the latest update. One of those characters was Princess Tiana from “The Princess and The Frog.”
Princess Tiana doesn’t have a realm to explore like some of the other characters. In order to start the quest to unlock Tiana, you need to find her magic recipe book which will start the “A Taste for Literature” quest.
Find the Mysterious Cajun Recipe Book
The first part in unlocking Princess Tiana is finding the last recipe book she used before disappearing. You can find this book anywhere in the Glade of Trust.
Once you’ve found the book, you’ll have to take it to Remy. After giving it to Remy, he’ll tell you that the recipe is smeared, but he can remember some things about it. This is also where he’ll explain that this isn’t his recipe and he can’t remember who made it.
After this first talk, you’ll unlock a memory that includes the other villagers you’ll need to talk to. Remy will also tell you that he knows the recipe needs shrimp and milk.
Figuring out the Rest of the Ingredients
In order to find out what the rest of the ingredients are, you’ll have to talk to Moana, Mickey, and Merlin. The order you talk to them doesn’t matter to the quest, as long as you talk to all of them.
Whenever you talk to Moana, she’ll tell you that one of the ingredients was not really sweet, but it had a full flavor. Right after this, you learn that she’s talking about onions.
When talking to Mickey, he’ll immediately tell you that the secret dish was rice based. He will tell you that the rice was perfectly cooked and brought all of the flavors together.
Finally, you’ll have to talk to Merlin. Merlin will tell you that the recipe had a special kind of chili pepper that was imbued with magic. This is because he described the spice in this dish as magically spicy, not just regular spicy. At the end of this conversation, you learn that it was a dreamlight pepper, not regular chili peppers.
Gathering Ingredients for Princess Tiana’s Recipe
The next thing you’ll need to do for this quest is gather the ingredients to prepare the meal. The ingredients you need are shrimp, milk, onions, rice, and dreamlight peppers.
You’ll get the dreamlight peppers after your conversation with Merlin, so you shouldn’t need to worry about trying to gather that. The next ingredient you’ll need is milk which can be purchased from Remy at Chez Remy.
You can get rice and onions by either farming or purchasing them from Goofy’s stalls. Regardless of whether you purchase or grow these ingredients, you’ll be able to get rice in the Glade of Trust and onions in the Forest of Valor. You’ll also have a chance of getting these ingredients in Wall-E’s garden.
Finally, in order to find shrimp, you’ll have to fish on Dazzle Beach. You’ll be able to find shrimp in both blue and white fishing spots, though they are more common when fishing in the blue spots. I also find it easier to find them when fishing off the little bridge on the shore.
Making and Sharing Princess Tiana’s Mysterious Recipe
Once you’ve gathered all of the ingredients, head to any cooking station to combine them. After you’ve combined everything, you’ll unlock the Enchanted Shrimp Etouffee dish.
Now that you’ve made the dish, you’ll need to bring it to Remy, Mickey, Moana, and Merlin so they can each try it.
While doing this, each of them will give you a clue about who originally made the dish. Remy will tell you that she really liked jazz music. Mickey will tell you that she was business savvy and was good at singing. Moana will tell you that she liked the Glade of Trust because it reminded her of home. Merlin will tell you that she borrowed an enchanted cookbook and he thinks she may be trapped in it.
Again, it doesn’t matter what order you talk to the villagers in because once you’ve finished talking to the last one, your character will comment that cookbook is doing something weird, and Tiana will arrive from the well.
Finally, you need to place and build her house for 5,000 coins. After this, you’ll give the magic cookbook to Princess Tiana so she can keep experimenting with the recipes.
