You’ll find countless junk weapons throughout Dead Island 2. These items, like a bit of rebar or burnt timber, work in a pinch if you have nothing else or want to toss a weapon at a zombie’s head as an opening move. However, in the long term, you want something more robust. Here is how to scrap weapons in Dead Island 2 for valuable resources and inventory space!
How to Scrap Weapons in Dead Island 2
To scrap weapons in Dead Island 2, visit a Workbench in any of the game’s safe houses, like Emma’s mansion in the beginning. Once there, select the “Weapons” tab and choose one of the weapons in your inventory by hovering over its card in the left-hand menu.
Once you’ve selected the weapon you no longer want, hold down “F3” on a keyboard or “R3” on a controller. For additional context, R3 is clicking in the right analog stick and holding it down to scrap the item.
You can scrap just about any weapon you want in the game. However, don’t scrap your favorites. Even if you surpass their level, you can visit the Workbench to upgrade that weapon and bring it up to your player level. It’s a helpful mechanic to help keep your favorite melee weapons viable for the game’s duration.

Should You Scrap Weapons or Repair Them?
When a game allows us to scrap or repair items, it’s usually a battle between them. Which one is more worthwhile in the long run? In Dead Island 2, it’s helpful to scrap weapons when you desperately require common resources for additional crafting.
However, as mentioned previously, don’t scrap your favorites. You can repair them using resources and money, then upgrade their level and power to match yours.
I recommend scrapping nearly-broken trash weapons like a bat, wrench, or pipe. They only have a finite number of uses before you find something better.
