Can You Play Dawn of Defiance With a Controller?
Yes! Dawn of Defiance does offer partial controller support on launch day. The team stated on the Steam store page that they went with “partial” instead of “full” controller support because they don’t offer a virtual keyboard, which is a requirement for the latter label.
That said, they did state that you can play using a modern Xbox or PlayStation controller. If you have either one, simply plug it in when playing Dawn of Defiance, and the game should automatically swap control schemes to suit your newly connected controller! Should You Play Dawn of Defiance With a Controller or Keyboard?
At the end of the day, the control scheme you use in Dawn of Defiance is entirely up to you! Don’t let anyone tell you you shouldn’t use a controller to enjoy a PC game. I find myself leaning toward a controller for all types of genres.
But for the survival crafting genre, I use a mouse and keyboard. It often feels more responsive and fluid, allowing me to wield hotkeys more easily to swap between resource-gathering tools and weapons in the blink of an eye. I recommend the same, but again, it’s up to you!
