Do you remember Dauntless? The free-to-play monster-slaying game featuring high-octane co-op gameplay was everywhere shortly after its announcement and launch, then dropped off somewhat as player numbers began to decline. Despite this, it remains a competent monster-hunting adventure that could eat up your spare time. Well, it’s about to get more exciting. We’re looking forward to the most significant Dauntless update yet coming December 5th!
This massive new content update, Dauntless: Awakening, expands the monster-hunting co-op adventure tenfold with additional weapons, challenges, quests, and unlockable Talents that allow for more significant playstyle variation.
Dauntless: Awakening introduces 18 new weapons, seven of which are unlocked through early quests, including the Silver Sword and Golden Claws. Plus an additional 11 weapons are earned via Weapon Tokens, which are earned in weekly challenges and both the free and paid tracks of the new Hunt Pass. Every weapon has a unique special ability, can be powered up to Level 60, and has 25 unlockable Talents including boosts to special, active, and passive abilities. To aid players in levelling up their weapons they will be able to equip both a weapon and subweapon, with both gaining equal XP.
Developer Phoenix Labs says it listened to player feedback since launch to help with this massive update, tweaking the core gameplay, offering additional rewards, and bringing new adventures to the community.
On top of Dauntless: Awakening’s release on December 5, we’ll also see the launch of the new Hunt Pass, a battle pass-like system introducing additional unique rewards to players who spend time completing challenges and earning XP.

Dauntless isn’t the only game expanding this year. SCUM recently announced its Fame Seekers update, which offers additional weapons, base-building elements, and the first iteration of the quest system.
