In the early game of Cult of the Lamb, you will spend countless minutes gathering berries and hunting down spiders for their meat at night. In time, you’ll unlock the ability to farm with Farm Plots, Farmer Stations, Fertilizer, and various crops to help keep your followers fed and satisfied. Here is how to farm in Cult of the Lamb!
How to Farm in Cult of the Lamb
Unless you intend to farm every plot yourself, you’ll want to construct a Farmer Station, which allows your followers to water crops. Once you upgrade to Farmer Station II, they’ll harvest the crops. The entire process becomes streamlined once the initial setup is complete.
But for the Farmer Station to function as intended, you must first place several Farm Plots in a diamond shape around the Farmer Station. It’s the ideal layout to maximize growth and harvesting. Every Farmer Plot will hold a single seed which, when bolstered by Fertilizer from poop, will result in additional crops for a larger, more abundant harvest.
But that’s not the end of the story. There are different types of fertilizers:
- Glowing Fertilizer: Attracts Fireflies at night, allowing you to catch more for additional Devotion.
- Golden Fertilizer: Generates 3-5 Gold Bars upon harvesting the crop.
- Rainbow Fertilizer: Instantly grows a plant to full size.
- Devoted Fertilizer: Constantly generates Devotion once the plant is fully grown.

The Best Farm Layout in Cult of the Lamb
As previously mentioned, the ideal farm layout in Cult of the Lamb is a diamond shape with the Farm Plots placed strategically around the Farmer Station. As you can see in the screenshot above, this is how you want to put down your farmland for ideal growth and to allow your followers to work efficiently.
You’ll also note the Scarecrow. It unlocks at Cult Level 2, making it somewhat of a grind to pull in enough Devotion to unlock more desirable structures and then the Scarecrow to keep birds away from your plants. It pays off, though. Those birds will eat your harvest.
A farm in Cult of the Lamb is the best way to alleviate food concerns in a long-running game, so consider constructing one early!
