It’s not uncommon for simulators to support handheld gaming computers these days, especially Valve’s Steam Deck. You can play American Truck Simulator on the fly with excellent performance. But does ContractVille support Steam Deck?

Officially? No, there’s no official support for ContractVille on Steam Deck. Is it likely to happen? Sure, as the team is working on controller support, which, according to the game’s roadmap, is estimated to launch in November, should they have the time to finish the functionality.
That said, there’s a workaround available directly from the developer to play the game on Steam Deck (found below!), though it’s not ideal.

How to Run ContractVille on Steam Deck
According to developer MYM Games Studios, it’s possible to run the game on Steam Deck. It’s not an optimal experience, though. As the game doesn’t currently offer full controller support, you’ll find playing on Valve’s handheld difficult, albeit possible. Here’s what the team said to help players run the game on SD:
- Download the following file from Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/172mbYNiuwkyczw5qN4qZE5WKQa968BQ8/view?usp=sharing
- To switch to desktop mode, hold the power button on the steam deck until a menu pops up. Don’t hold it for too long, otherwise the deck will shut down automatically -> Switch to Desktop Mode
- Once there, you’re going to use the folder icon down at the bottom of the screen to bring up the file explorer (Dolphin).
- In order to find the file that needs to be swapped out, you must go to /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2698780/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/ContractVille/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/
- Once the path is opened, you’ll need to drop the file “Engine.ini” attached to this post into the directory and overwrite if asked.
- Return to Gaming Mode. Desktop Mode does not work for launching the game.
- Next, select ContractVille in your steam library > select the gear icon > general > launch options
- Add the following lines: -force -dx11 -xgeshadercompile -nothreadtimeout -useallavailablecores -sm4
- Go to compatability > check the box that forces the user of specific Steam Play compatability tool > Proton Hotfix
To reiterate: The above steps are required. Do not skip any step.
These steps must be completed entirely on Steam Deck’s Desktop mode until the instructions state otherwise!
