Is GTFO Solo Play Viable?
While primarily a four-player cooperative horror shooter, GTFO does allow for solo play. It’s a little more challenging, of course. It would be best if you heavily relied on stealth to navigate the environment, but there are checkpoints to consider. You can’t stealth your way through a noisy checkpoint, which means fighting for your life against the horde. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done when playing alone.
The key to playing GTFO alone is patience, first and foremost. Consider that developer 10 Chambers didn’t set out to create a single-player game. It’s meant for a small squad of up to four players. While it’s totally possible to beat every Rundown alone, it’s easier with someone watching your back!

GTFO Solo Tips for Survival
- If this is your first time playing GTFO, especially with the regular free weekends they host, then do yourself a favor and start in the game’s tutorial. It will give you the upper hand before delving into a Rundown solo.
- Choose the right equipment for solo play: A powerful shotgun to help clear mobs and the sledgehammer to one-shot sleeping enemies.
- You will likely fail your first few attempts at a solo Rundown clear but don’t give up. It takes practice to learn the game’s enemies, mechanics, and your own equipment.
