Were you among the many excited to finally play Escape From Tarkov on Steam? If you didn’t already purchase a copy, you’re in luck. Once the game launches on Steam on November 15, just purchase the bundle you want and start playing. But if you already purchased Escape From Tarkov via Battlestate Games and use its launcher, what then? Do you need to buy EFT again on Steam? Here’s the answer!
Will Current Escape From Tarkov Owners Get Steam Access for Free?
This is a frequently asked question everywhere that Escape From Tarkov is discussed online, and, unfortunately, the answer is that yes, you do need to buy a copy of the extraction shooter on Steam to play. If you purchased a copy via Battlestate’s official website and play via the launcher, you can continue playing there. But if you want the game on Steam, you must buy a copy there, download the Battlestate launcher, and it will automatically count the higher edition.
Here’s the official response from Battlestate:
Yes. To play Escape from Tarkov through Steam, you must purchase any edition of the game on Steam. You can then link your existing Battlestate Games account with an active copy of the game to your Steam profile. If the editions differ, it will automatically use the higher edition of the two when launching the game through Steam.
For example: If you bought the Standard Edition on Steam but your Battlestate Games account already has The Unheard Edition, launching the game through Steam will grant you access to The Unheard Edition profile.
Escape From Tarkov will officially launch on Steam and into 1.0 on November 15. Do you intend to buy another copy?
