Everyone has a favorite game mode in the annual Call of Duty launch. For me, it’s whichever one allows me to die the least. For others, it’s something like Face Off, which is chaotic and adrenaline-pumping, thanks to its small maps and close-quarters engagements. If that’s you, you’ll be happy to learn that Black Ops 7 includes Face Off for a handful of its multiplayer maps!
Matt Scronce, the Design Director at Treyarch, addressed a recent video on the game modes and maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. He said:
Out of the 16 6v6 launch maps, 4 of those are smaller and support those modes, with new (+ some former faves) maps coming in post-launch.
A change we’ve made for BO7 is to try and make sure those smaller maps can support Scorestreaks so they work for more playlists.
Not necessarily all of them, but the goal is that more CAN be supported which mainly comes down to aerial access for Scorestreaks. We don’t want to force it either way if the team has a cool idea that can’t support Scorestreaks.
So, to summarize, yes, Face Off is coming to Black Ops 7 on launch, and we’ll likely see the game mode expand over time post-release with additional maps.
