I’m not entirely sold on the bodycam first-person shooter trend, but if any game could manage to win me over, it’s a title seemingly inspired by the likes of John Wick and John Woo wrapped into one violent package. That’s precisely what the new Better Than Dead gameplay reveals—a stylistic first-person shooter that’s visceral, fast-paced, and not quite ready for the public yet. But it’s coming along nicely!
What is Better Than Dead All About?
In Better Than Dead, you play a lone woman broken by a criminal organization. But she’s not staying down after their kidnapping, torture, and subsequent filming of her. She’s back with a bodycam and a gun, ready to rip apart photorealistic Hong Kong to take revenge against those who wronged her.
Better Than Dead is a revenge story of the most brutal kind.
What to Expect From the Stylistic Bodycam FPS
From the game’s Steam store page, a few of the known features for the game include:
- Bodycam revenge shooter – Film every step. Every shot. Every death. No mercy.
- Raw, instant gunplay – Fast reactions. Deadly bullets. You miss, you die.
- Photorealistic Hong Kong – Fight your way through iconic action-movie settings: neon-lit restaurants, seedy nightclubs, back alleys, rooftop dens.
- Tight, linear levels – No filler. Just targets, tension, and retribution
- Cinematic action style – Inspired by classic Hong Kong action films from the ’80s and ’90s.
When Can You Play Better Than Dead?
Unfortunately, there is no official release date attached to Better Than Dead as of yet. Developer Monte Gallo and publisher MicroProse Software intend to remain mum until there’s more information to share, it seems.
For now, if you’re interested in playing Better Than Dead, go ahead and Wishlist on Steam!
