While it’s true that Active Matter is eventually coming to Steam, as per its store page, that time isn’t quite now. According to the game page, we’ll see the PvPvE extraction shooter hit Valve’s digital storefront sometime in 2026.
For now, if you want to purchase and play Active Matter, you must visit the game’s official website and buy a copy via the Gaijin Store.

How to Refund Active Matter
Regarding refunds for Active Matter, Matter Team and Gaijin Network follow the Steam refund methodology in that, so long as you play the game for less than two hours, you can request a refund for any reason.
To request a refund for Active Matter, visit your Purchase History page on the Gaijin Store, then select “Refund.” You won’t receive the money back to your original payment method, however. It goes to your Gaijin Store Balance.
How to Upgrade Your Active Matter Edition
You absolutely can upgrade your version of Active Matter, should you wish to move from, say, a Standard Edition to the Premium Edition for the additional in-game items and benefits. To upgrade, visit the Gaijin Store, log in with the account you used to purchase Active Matter, then select the upgrade option. You’ll pay the price difference, and your account will receive its upgrade, likely within a short period of time.
